Going through this summer’s photos from my hikings in Bulgarian Nature Parks, I found these lovely memories from a gentle walk, guided by Sofia Kostadinova on the butterfly trail in the Belasitsa mountains.
Walking through the woods, talking about butterflies, we also met these goats. They went home to the village of Yavornitsa, after a hot late summer grazing day, while we went up to the refreshing waterfall at the end of the trail.
News about travel possibilities to Yavornitsa
The best news about Belasitsa Nature Park is this: Sofia informed me that this wonderful hidden area at the Bulgarian-Greek border can be reached from the Greek Airport Thessaloniki very easily:
There is a regular bus (Thessaloniki – Sofia) which stops in Kulata village: www.busexpress.bg/de/reservation/departing
Kulata is a village in Petrich municipality and has regular transport to Petrich – 6:40, 7:50, 10:20, 12:20, 14:20, 18:05, 20:20 hrs.
Petrich – Kulata: 6:00, 7:00, 9:30, 11:30, 13:30, 17:15, 19:30 hrs.
It is possible to take a car from Yavornitsa village to Thessaloniki and of course also to order a car to come to Thessaloniki for a pickup. The price is 50 Euro.
